The Campbell Group, LLC Names Lee Carroll Regional Manager of Texas, Louisiana Timberlands
PORTLAND, Ore. - January 1, 2008 - The Campbell Group has named Lee Carroll its Regional Manager for the 1.5 million acres of timberlands the company recently acquired in East Texas and Louisiana.
Carroll comes to The Campbell Group with more than 35 years of forestry experience in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.
"I am excited to join The Campbell Group and look forward to assisting the staff in managing the timberlands," Carroll said. "I have worked throughout this region, and I know these timberlands and understand the needs of the land as well as the people who live here.
"It will be my privilege to join this highly qualified team and continue to manage these timberlands to the high standards that Temple-Inland established."
Carroll brings a wealth of experience to the position. He began his career in 1972 with Champion Paper Company where he worked for 28 years. He has worked the last seven years with International Paper Company with his most recent job assignment in Shreveport, Louisiana, as the West Region Operations Manager. During his career, he has lived in Livingston, Huntsville and Lufkin as well as Shreveport. His background includes having served as a nursery and tree improvement supervisor and management positions in forest regeneration, land sales, forest inventory, logging and wood procurement.
Carroll is a graduate of the Huntsville/ Walker County Leadership Institute, a current member of the Texas Forestry Association Board of Directors and a recipient of many leadership awards from Champion and International Paper.
"Lee brings to The Campbell Group and the employees in this region a tremendous amount of experience in these forests," said Jerry Brodie, The Campbell Group's Managing Director of Operations. "His experience further ensures a continuity of management of these lands."
The Campbell Group will continue to manage and certify these timberlands under the requirements of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative' Standard, a program established by foresters, conservationists, and scientists who support sustainable forestry practices.
"As we move forward, Lee will have a major role in the company's participation in conservation programs as well as within the communities of this region," Brodie said.
Lee and his wife, Mary, will be relocating to the Lufkin area in January and are looking forward to involvement in the community.
The Campbell Group recently acquired 1.55 million acres of timberland from Temple-Inland Inc. The transaction involved timberlands in Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and Alabama.
